love

"It’s gotta be
More like falling in love than something to believe in
More like losing my heart than giving my allegiance..."

~Jason Gray

Do you simply believe in God, or are you in love with God?

Growing up, I had the idea that if I didn't read my bible every day, then God would be mad at me. Or if something bad happened during my day, I thought God was punishing me for not being a good enough Christian. If I sinned or messed up, I thought that God didn't want to spend time with me, or couldn't use me anymore.

I thought that God's love was conditionally based on my performance.

This was a stressful way to live. I was constantly comparing myself to others, and not measuring up. I was reading God's word, but for the wrong reasons. I 'spent time with God' so He wouldn't get mad at me and punish me. I believed in God, but I was not in love with Him.

God pursued me, and began to change my heart.

He showed me that His love is unconditional. He will never love me any more, or any less than He does right now. He accepts me as I am (broken), but loves me too much to leave me that way. I do not read the bible or spend time with God so that He will love me. Instead, I read the bible because He loves me. His love draws me to Him...not religious obligation.

Here is what I want you to know,

God always has and always will love you. It's not about how often you read the bible, or how 'Christian' you look on the outside...it's all about falling in love with your creator and king. He wants a relationship with you.
