I am taking a linguistics class dealing with language, culture, and identity. Monday we were in a class discussion about identity...and my teacher said this...
"Everyone is asking the same life questions."
Who am I?
Why am I here/What's the point?
Who are they?
He explained that these questions are the great mysteries of life, and the answers are the pursuit of all people.
I so badly wanted to raise my hand and proclaim... "OH OH GUESS WHAT? I KNOW THE ANSWERS TO ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS! YOU CAN STOP LOOKING! I KNOW! I KNOW!
My heart is so saddened by the fact that the world is searching for all the right answers in all the wrong places. The answers to these questions will never be found...unless you look to Jesus. PAUSE.
JESUS IS THE ANSWER!
Who am I?
You are a creation of the most high king. His love for you is indescribable.
"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well." Psalm 139:13
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well." Psalm 139:13
Why am I here/What's the point?
You have a specific purpose. God does not make mistakes, and His plans are always perfect. The point of our lives is to glorify God. He is life. He is our identity. Apart from Him there is no point.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10
Who are they?
Everyone around us is someone that was created and is loved by God. Everyone around us is someone that Jesus died for.
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another" 1 John 4:11
The world is searching, and I have the answers! How can I not share!
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes..." Romans 1:16
