The Marshmallow Test

The weekend is ending, but I am ready to take on another week! Highlights of my weekend included:

girl time, designing wedding invites, Swedish fish, down time with my prince, Olive Garden, and...The Marshmallow Test :)

The lady told the can either eat this now, or wait and I will give you another one! What would you do? Would you be able to have self control in order to get something better?

Hmmmm. Can this be applied to our lives?

"Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever." 1 John 2:15-17

We all have needs, and we all try to fill these needs in different ways. The world tries to tell us how to satisfy our needs, and it offers many different ways. However, these things (physical pleasure, cravings, pride, possessions...) are fading away! They do not last...or satisfy! They may give temporary eating a Marshmallow...but the Lord wants to give us so much more than momentary "happiness." He has so much more in store for those who wait and put their trust in Him.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
      and no mind has imagined
   what God has prepared
for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

I am willing to pass up temporary pleasures of this world in order to gain so much more! Only Christ can ever truly satisfy.
