My prince and I decided we are not going to have sugar (aka "sweets") during the week, but only on the weekends. I made it through my first week, and it went pretty well! However, I must have felt deprived of sugar because this weekend has definitely been an overload of sweets!
Friday night my prince and I went out to dinner in Uptown, and then got dessert at (one of my favorite coffee shops) Uncommon Grounds!

We got yummmmmy mochas and talked about wedding plans :)
Saturday I got my wedding shoes! (pictures to come) ...and brought my dress in to get fitted! I also went to Dunn Brothers and got a caramel macchiato! mmmmmmm my fav...
Sunday I went to Dunn Brothers again (I know, I know...) and got a Hazelnut Latte! Delish!
In between all these coffee trips were a few cookies, fruit snacks, and of course some chocolate :)
So I think this weekend I had my share of sugar to last me the week...yeah?
How do you get rid of sugar cravings? Advice please! :)
This is what i try to do! I also have trouble not overloading on the weekends but that is mostly because of my lack of ability to say no :) There are two reasons for your sugar cravings that I can come up for:
ReplyDelete1. Your body could literally be low in sugars (natural ones) and is telling you to crave it to rebalance everything. A way to fix this is to make sure you are getting enough sugars during the week. This can be found in all sorts of fruits. Good ones are apples or bananas. And a little bit in dairy like milk and yogurt.
2. Old habits die hard. I am sure the sweets that you have been craving are some of your favorites! Your body and mind is used to being satisfied with those treats. The longer you go without having those types of foods on a regular basis the easier it gets because your body no longer is used to having those types of foods..So you just need to stay strong! :)
Hope this helps!! Eating healthy is tough sometimes, but worth it :)

ReplyDeleteGreat post... my hubby and I have been working on eating more healthy. I love to cook and have found some GREAT new recipes. I have found that by eating healthy I crave a little less sweets... but I admit I do have my moments. And coffee drinks is def where I splurge as well
