Fear

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline" 2 Timothy 1:7

I would not describe myself as a very courageous person, but I have a hard time admitting that I am fearful. However, as life brings many changes, some are big, some are small, and some are scary. Do you ever feel scared...of what might happen, what people might think or say, what if you fail, what if something goes wrong, what if it's too hard, what if you aren't good enough, what if you're lonely...? I am realizing that sometimes my fear hinders me from experiencing God, and His perfect plan for my life. Often times God's plan for us is scary, and makes us uncomfortable, but we do not need to fear. (In fact, if we are completely comfortable, we are probably not in the center of God's will...yikes!) Fear causes us to create excuses, and build up walls instead of stepping into what is best for us! God promises that He will never put us through anything we cannot handle with His help, but we must allow Him to help us. This song by Jimmy Needham is perfect for what I am trying to say. Sometimes we need God to tear down our walls of fear, pride, vanity, selfishness, etc...in order to truly experience the exciting, purposeful, plan He is waiting to share with us.
